Avant Hoping His Extra Work Pays Off

Vol. V No. Bethlehem - After Saturday's afternoon practice, most of the Eagles jogged back to the locker room. Others met with the media and some chose to spend time signing autographs for the fans. Jason Avant headed straight to the JUGS machine. There, Eagles ballboys used the machine - which is more commonly found in batting cages - to zip dozens of balls in Avant's direction. For about 15 minutes, the sure-handed Avant caught everything that came his way. "You just need to see the ball all the time," Avant said afterwards. "This thing is repetition. Everybody can catch in this league, it's just those who focus the longest." The extra repetition is something that was ingrained in Avant long before he arrived in Philadelphia in 2006.
